Styles of Bathrobes

There are dozens of different styles of bathrobes and all are designed to provide you with comfort whether it's a hooded robe or comfortable cotton bathrobe. Most bathrobe styles are are often designed around the type of fabric that they are made from. For example, you may choose a soft terry robe with a shawl collar for winter months when you want a bathrobe to make you feel warm and cozy.

Terry robes are perhaps some of the most comfortable and luxurious bathrobe styles available. Terry robes typically have a “shawl” like collar. The collar is named this as it closes around your neck to keep in the warm of your body heat. Additionally, the fabric is designed for maximum water absorption making it perfect to wear right after a warm bath, shower or dip in the pool. Terry robes with their thick, shawl collar provide a nice warm and comfortable feel.

Cotton robes are available in several styles as well. Cotton can come in the terrycloth material, mentioned above, providing maximum comfort. Cotton is also available in a waffle fabric that makes a thin, lightweight robe. This waffle pique cotton has a distinctive grid like look to it and is excellent for use in the summer months when you don't need to be as warm, but would like to cover up with something light and absorbent after a swim or shower.

The hooded robe is generally available in cotton and is designed for warmth as well. Hooded robes come in a variety of fabric options, but are designed for maximum warmth. The head releases heat so by covering your head after a warm bath or shower you are able to retain more of your body heat by covering your head.

Another style option you have for bathrobes is the “kimono” styled robe. Kimono robes do not have a collar and this cut is most popular in lightweight bath robes, such as silk robes or thin cotton robes. These robes are more popular for their style and comfort rather than their warmth, making them the perfect style for summer robes.

There are a variety of styles of bathrobes available and depending on the climate where you live, you may only need one type of bathrobe. You may consider an absorbent terry robe or you may perhaps decide to have a few styles for each season and climate your area experiencing.
